Tales From the Clipped: Logan Stankoven and Mavrik Bourque Do Their Mini Hintz-Robertson Impression
It's a magical conjunction.
I wasn’t completely sold on the Mavrik Bourque + Logan Stankoven line. Does that make me an idiot? Probably. Does that make me thoughtless? Also probably. But I still maintain that the Texas Stars are thin at center. Bourque and Stankoven have spent their junior careers as their team’s central pivots. I get the endgame and development path — Stankoven will play at right wing at the NHL level — but I think he’s such a natural at either spot, it might behoove him to get better at the more critical position.
But I know. You didn’t come here to read about my own personal philosophy, or even my opinions. You came for that cinematic good good.
Initially I wanted to do a general report, with maybe some highlights thrown in, and I probably will next week. But the plays Bourque and Stankoven made last night were worth their own story.
By now you know the bottom line. Both have four points through three games, ranking 15th and 18th in the AHL, respectively. They’re exactly as advertised. It didn’t start out that way, especially in Game 1 versus the Tucson Roadrunners. But whatever was holding them back from their mini Hintz-Robertson connection is a barrier no more.
They’ve arrived. With a vengeance.
Quick note: I hate to lock good people out of content they’re craving, which is why we’ve got a really straighforward referral system. I know you’re extremely online like I am. So start sharing! Beyond that, I’m gonna talk about Texas next week so unpaid subscribers will still get their baby Stars fix.
