Been meaning to ask: and I don't hold back. How do you like the polls?

I feel like I've been using them a little too liberally. Do they get in the way of the reading experience? Do they add to it? Could they be better leveraged? Is there a Marvelification of them where they're getting too jokey? Overall thoughts?

A guy who's built his readership by attempting to analyzing stats in a meaningful way, doing polls????

Makes sense.

I'm here for it.👍🏻

I like the polls. It's nice to be able to interact with you and other fans.

Given the number of comments generated by the articles (+ knowing how many people are following you {congrats btw}), I think the polls make sense. One note though, when I read the articles from my email on my phone, it jumps me to the website and messes up the order of my reading. More than one poll works on a PC, but on mobile it is kind of screwy. The sweet spot may be one question at the end to stir up some discussion and generating feedback.

1000 subscribers! That's so awesome. You should be incredibly proud of that achievement. People don't part with their money easily in this "everything is free" world. So if they are, your material is what drives them. I certainly enjoy and appreciate your work! Thank you

Haha. Just to be clear that number is for overall subscribers (and we're not quite there yet). The paid subscriber is obviously much smaller, but I'm still kind of awe given that this is just hockey for one team. Nonetheless, I appreciate the kind words.

Smith is Hanley 2.0, now with kung-fu action grip!

I'd also like to add to the Lundkvist madness (seems normal to me, but I subscribe to the old adage of NHL defenseman not being ready until 27) by pointing out that according to the now exclusive owned by Washington Capfriendly player ratings, Nils graded out as our 2nd best defender with a score of 82, while Harley scored a 77.

Not a be all end all stat, but definitely an interesting peice of fat to chew on. I never knew how they went about judging or providing a metric for their grade, but it looked as if it was based off scouting reports that were somewhat limited in size & scope.

I still do not get why Lundkvist came back with Dallas. What changed in the coaching staff to even "hope" that he will be treated differently?

And why in hell Nill brought him back knowing perfectly well how the coaching staff feels about Lundkvist?

Just saying here, Adam Boqvist @ 775K$ vs Lundkvist @ 1,25M$ feels like a much better bet and investment. The Panthers do have a good instinct in reclamation project.

While it is still pre-season and nothing matters, would be cool to get your view on who each defender would ideally be partnered with both personally and from the team level. Clearly everyone is picking Miro at their linemate, but the team might need there in a different spot, and probably a guy that they'd be the worst with. Is Harley the Reilly to LeBoosh? Can Nils see the ice next to anyone but Lindell, and is that a good thing? Who could Dumba best compliment? Should Smith be thought of as this year's Hanley or does the #6 spot in musical chairs get violent. Should Hintz be moved to defense and super group with Miro(Hawt take from DBD)?

Smith is a great stop gap for this team, but under two conditions.

1) He doesn't end up messing up all of the D pairs when he gets in the lineup. Can they put him on the right side and let Miro and Harley get some reps with LeBoosh and Dumba?

2) He's seen as a stop gap. If Nills is equal with Smith at any point, sit the vet and let the kid get reps. Similarly if Bichsel is ready for a look, Smith should sit as he's not the long term solution for this team. By the end of this season the training wheels need to be off at least one of Lundkvist/Bichsel

It will either end up looking like the Wyatt Johnston poll of all A+ or something snarky like:

A. Delicious

B. Yes, please

C. Currently eating b&g

D. Biscuits, like what the English people call a cookie? That sounds terrible with brown gravy

I votes for Capio "the bank" banco just because I'd rather let Bichsel ripen in the AHL unless he's playing like a madman of course

Personally, I'm not a big poll fan and usually don't participate. I'm reading the article for your perspective. However, they don't bother or aggravate my reading experience at all
