I have really enjoyed your draft articles since I don’t watch anything but the stars broadcast and no nothing about any of the young players in the so called minor leagues. I am confident in Dallas’s drafting skills, I just wish they hadn’t traded away so many picks

RE: Heiskanen, do you think a move back to the left side might unlock more offense from Miro?

I think so. I don't think Miro will ever be a top guy, but at least it'd give him opportunity to explore his passing skills, which I think are much more significant than his shooting.

Should Dallas feel pressed to find a way to double dip in the first round this year?

I would. You're all but guaranteed to get a quality right shot defender, and a quality middle six forward. But what are you giving up? Next year's first rounder and a prospect?

If Grier is as big a Faksa fan as I think he is (random mention of the matter by Jeff Marek a few seasons back seared itself into my brain), I could see Faksa, Lundkvist, and a later round pick or prospect being a plausible base deal for Pittsburgh's pick at #14.

They'd be flipping the script on Nill's original Lundkvist trade and adding a solid bottom six work horse and room guy, too a team chock full of talented young Czech players.

Reflecting a bit on the Delly return (and doing a 180 on the previous question), would Dallas willingly trade out of this draft for NHL players next season?

We seem to be killing it on the undrafted front, theres a lots to like about the previous seasons additions too the baby Stars, and 2025 looks like the next peak if our scouts knockout drafting cycle holds true. 2013, 2017, 2021, 2025?

Anyone we draft now (mainly thinking about our RD needs) won't be NHL ready until around the same time our current undrafted crop should be ready to step up into bottom pair roles. It may make more sense to make our TDL type move at the draft this season, where picks are at there highest value, instead of waiting all year to fix the thing that needed fixing from the start. It's not like the homework hadn't already been done on Tanev years and years ago, (Hi, Dan Hamhuis) so if theres a player we've ben keeping an eye on as backend fix, we should go get him.

Lundkvist & a 1st ought to garner some attention on the draft floor, just a matter of who & what's the return.

(Aram Minnetian in the 4th last year was the connective tissue of this rambling thought process.)
