Suter had a nice career. He was a big part of the Stars recent successes… even with his flaws and occasional mistakes. He cleared the net front as well as any current Star…. And better than most. He blocked out well. He was rarely skated around/by… much less than Mr. Wonder Stick!!! He was a prototypical traditional Dman. Nobody messed with him either, like Benn, opposition did not challenge him. That’s something of value, that hopefully Bichell can replace!!!

Happy Trails RS

How many other players have been bought out while still actively in a buyout? Suter is about to be remembered for one quite trivial reason.

Tony Deangelo has been bought out twice, different situations tho

I've made silly arguments defending Hanzal and his faceoff prowess paying dividends as a teaching mechanism,(looks at Jamie's playoff numbers, knowing full well it's rank speculation to even try making the point, but ima look at it anyway) and now a silly argument to bring back John Klingberg:

Get Logan Stankoven dancing lessons.

The 4-1 set up seems to be the name of the PP game and as a skilled and versatile shooter, Logan's build and skill set exemplify alot of what appears to be the exploit we've been looking for in an undersized defenseman. Miro-Stankoven on a PP set get everyone to their natural position and allows Miro to attack the net from up top more often, as Stankoven learns the PP QB position from one of the best.

Klingberg appears to be looking at what could be another rehab type of season, at which point I don't mind having extra depth waiting in the wings, if infact Nill is going to push PDB's hand on playing Lundkvist & Bichsel, like what could be read into from the post draft presser.

Makes me think Nill already has a deal worked out for Tanev...

Ok it was stated that there would be a 1.4 million cap hit. So how much does it save? Do you think Tanav is going to ask more than his 4.25 million contract that just expired? Is no income tax worth anything? I guess since I don’t get paid millions it seems to me that the players he plays with and the coaches would mean a lot. The Stars seemed to have such good chemistry that is worth something.

2.86m in cap savings this season.

Not alot of savings, but it's more than enough to clean up the margins to make a noteworthy move or two on the UFA market.
