I love this guy. Seeing him stand up for himself (or maybe his agent standing up for him) after the draft regarding the Swiss' ridiculous demand about training camp showed some maturity. He could've given in, but he knew he needed rest. That awareness is nice to see.
Good point. I hate terms like "IQ" but his spatial awareness/hockey sense is something worth highlighting, and it doesn't surprise me it's showed outside of the rink too. I feel like the player/agent is typically a duel effort. The player wouldn't make a statement they weren't comfortable with to begin with.
Being strictly a fan….I believe that the organization has done wonderful things bringing in the younger guys. Perhaps Bichsel can produce and get fast-tracked.
I’d comment that you’re correct and step back to Harley being an interesting test case for Stars management... he has profiled rather similarly to a taller Honka, the fact that they even drafted him with recent open wounds says at least something about a shift in philosophy.

The only caveat is that they're slower with bringing along defensemen. Just look at Harley. Given his size, Bichsel might thankfully be the exception.
