Could or even should Dallas be in on some sort of trade with whoever drafts Blake Fiddler. ?

So let's consider the logistics. LA at 24 and Ottawa at 21 are your best bets. Both are competitive teams, looking to aggressively get better. Fiddler will conceivably be at that range, although there's hardly any guarantee (I'm a HUGE fan of Kurban Limatov, who is basically Russian Fiddler, and he'll definitely be there, if not into the second round). What are you offering? I doubt these teams are taking Bourque and a pick. Teams like that would be asking for Lian Bichsel, and I wouldn't blame them. Because outside of Bichsel, Dallas doesn't have a cost-controlled NHL-ready player.

Fiddler is projected to go anywhere between top 10-20 picks. We simply do not have the assets to pull off a trade to acquire a first round selection, much less one that high. Sorry my friend. It would be very cool though. Maybe in FA or trade in six or seven years.....

This is why I hated the Granlund/Ceci trade. There are GOOD players in this draft! (And no there's no point in lingering on this. I'm sure Carolina would have pushed for a 2025 first rounder instead of 2027 or whenever in the Mikko deal.)

So did I. I felt like we could have pried away Granlund for a 2nd. Never wanted anything to do with Ceci. He proved to be who we all thought he was. In retrospect, going with Lyubushkin and Petrovic probably would have worked without the cost of our 1st. Even if we had eventually shipped it out to CAR.

Who are they going to draft? Come on, Castillo you should know the answer by now. Who is the highest ranked Finn?

With Jason Robertson being a group leader of sorts, I really like the AHL call-up's available to plug into the lineup.

Hintz-Rantanen

Johnston-Duchene

Steel-Seguin

Benn-Bourque

All 4 of those base pair set ups can handle #1 duties on a given night, especially with the addition of Robertson.

82 games is a long fucking way to go. Keep everyone as healthy & well fed as possible, before the real season starts.

Robertson to Back is a nice spectrum of add on type players to build off of, and the PK prowess Blumel built in Texas puts him closer to the Robertson side of that rainbow. Dude has a smoking one-timer that demands respect that either is, or isn't, respected on a Hintz-Rantanen line.

Respect the shot, open up more room for Hintz & Moose to work in space.

Disrespect the shot, get ready, cause them dude's will find the passing lane too the quiet spot.

Timing just needs to be their in time for playoffs, so no need to rush the chemistry build.

Who's this years Sam Steel?

A player who ultimately disappoints their drafting team, but develops into a damn fine NHLer over the course of his career with another team or two.

And why will that player come out of the WHL? (Seriously, is their something in the waters of Western Canada that leads to such boom & bust prospects?)
