David, assuming that Tanev is to rich for the Stars to pursue, Do you see another Dman that might be affordable that the Stars could pursue that would give them a little extra punch?

If you look at the rest of the class, it's Tanev and NO ONE else. Hell even the good defensemen on contending teams like Martinez and Pesce I would describe as inferior to Tanev. The only move that has potential to give them extra punch would be a lateral move to trade Lundkvist for Kylington. Like everyone else, I want to see Lundkvist develop and get the opportunity. But if DeBoer keeps second guessing Lundkvist, but wanted something similar, why not a player with more NHL experience and more speed?

The asterisk here is that Kylington's status is a complete unknown. I know he's had mental health struggles, so I don't know where he's headed, but Kylington is the real deal. If Dallas got him healthy and healed, I'd love that potential move.

Other than that I can't think of anything. Hanifan doesn't make any sense given his position (another LHD), but he's also gonna get paid.

Thank you for saying this about Tanev, yes he fits but at the cost of acquisition is he that much more than what Lian could bring... certainly could be but if the cost is a b prospect and a first I’m pretty sure I would know how I’d lean. Cap building throughout this early part of the season has people wanting to use it to see one of the forward studs but getting Lian up around the new year to see what’s what would be prudent, and help Nill save himself from overpaying... big issue there is neither Nill nor PDB seems to historically use a 10-15 game stretch with a kid to see what they can do vs just covering limited minutes, philosophical problem here.
