My feeling on the play was that it was a careless and irresponsible play from a veteran that should know better, and for that reason, it is a suspendible offense.

I don't think he intentionally injured Miro or went for his knee, but he made an active decision to make a dangerous and risky play.

I think he cannot use Roope as an excuse for his decision. He could have just let it go, and that may not be in his competitive nature, but he deserves any and all criticism for the play he made that injured another player.

I think Stone was trying to obstruct Heiskanen/poke the puck away as he was falling to prevent a breakout the other way. I think Stone clearly reaching for the puck makes this a hockey play, not an attempt to injure. The lunge across Heiskanen to get the puck is reckless, but that's a play that doesn't result in an injury the vast majority of the time. If anything, I'd say most of the time Stone is the one who's at a higher risk for injury on that play by putting his head in that position. This will be an unpopular opinion here, but I don't think it's suspension-worthy.

As for what the Stars need; 100% a top 4 defenseman. Offensively, I think they're fine (despite the power play!). Robertson's back to normal, Johnston's clicking, Bourque seems to have adapted to this level now, and Marchment will be back soon. Seguin's ability if/when he comes back this year is anyone's guess, but there's plenty of depth at forward. Small silver lining to Heiskanen being out is Harley will get more time on the top PP, which will hopefully show the power play issue is not a forwards issue (except Benn).

I'm with you, spend the money on the defense. The offense needs something, but with the active line blender it is hard to know what. I'm of the opinion find a pending UFA 2nd line winger. Someone who is like a Dadonov+, they don't have to be spectacular but solid. This assumes there is a guy like that out there and a Dman who can sub for miro for a while. Happy thoughts, right?

For your podcast Thursday. Please recruit a top defender !!!

Why consider anything else??

The adage still stands…..

You win a championship with DEFENSE!

And DEFENSE that can drive offense in transition.

Stone intentionally fell to “clip” Miro. Maybe he didn’t intend to hurt him, but he did intend to block him. That makes it a cheap shot.

In my book Stone IS Corey Perry, ever since he said something that set Benn off (think like the Paul Newman line to the goalie in Slap Shot… but not funny!). Benn could have given him a new Joker smile, but he let up on Stone and got the suspension anyway.

He showed his true stripes again with Miro.

And, as with McDavid… the refs or the league do NOT protect the star players. That’s why Neanderthal old schoolers like me call for team retribution!

Who’s got Miro’s back? Nobody….

Eichel obviously had a great game and fantastic moments. He also was the player the Stars totally played on the overtime goal. Not sure what he could have done because the play of Wyatt and Hintz was so damn good but thought I’d point it out.

Also, the Stone play could have been avoided by him.

Agree with Tiffin on this one - should have been a clipping major and then reviewed. Officials missed this one again.

Agree with the comment on a silver lining - Harley takes over on 1st PP. We'll see if that helps to change the dynamic there, although there are other things wrong with the PP...

Top 4 D should be top priority, then move to bottom 6 forward. Seguin and Mush coming back will hopefully help tremendously. Don't rush Miro back as long as you don't have to.

We just played and beat the top team in the Pacific twice in less than a week on our ice and on their ice. To quote Darrel Royal, dance with who brung ya. The Stars are starting to play our best hockey of the season. I don't see any reason to blow up the team chemistry for some overpaid has-been trade deadline acquisition. If this team can't win the cup, address it during the off-season with solid, well reasoned decisions. Not hasty impulse deals that seldom pay off as intended.

I vote for top 4 D the kids are awake and older guy(s) with fresh legs coming back to pick up the offense...

Dream trade deadline for the Stars: D Marcus Pettersson from PIT (Last year of a 5 year deal, cap hit of $4,025,175) and RW Brock Boeser (last year of 6 year deal, cap hit of $6,650,000). Both pending UFA's, and both on teams that have indicated they'd be willing to part. Boeser will certainly help the PP and Pettersson will anchor the top 4 with Lindell, Heiskanen, and Harley.

Hints did tap Stone's skate, but that didn't cause the fall. He takes another stride after. He was either 1. Trying to draw a penalty and was extremely negligent or 2. Was deliberately going for the knee. Either way, Stone should be suspended.

Here is my take I think Mark Stone was trying to get penalty for tripping called on Roope and in the process took out Miro. I think he should be suspended. You need to control your body just like your stick. Now for the injury me being the possesor of 8:knee surgeries and a knee replacement for my 9th. I am going to say Miro is done for the season and maybe part of next year. So now we are looking for at least 1 d man and maybe 2 plus a scoring winger before the trade deadline
