The Norris discussions that includes both Harley and Miro are fun...And useless at the same time.

As long as there will be just one award for defensemen, only Makar, Hughes, Werenski and other D having an incredible offensive season will get the votes.

This will continue up until the NHL decides to have 2 awards: one for the best offensive D and one for the best overall D. And this will force the voters to get to know stats other than goals, points and + and -.

Is makar really the best defender? He’d still be top 5 with replacement level defense. I get that he’s good but this makes home look like Orr/Lindstrom.

I agree with you and wish it weren’t so!

that is a hell of a profile on Stankhoven. He's going through some pains - growing pains and pains from being hit hard by opposing teams. Interesting idea letting him center, I like that. I would not scratch him before some of the others...he's a catalyst on the ice.

I forget that Stankoven is still a rookie doing rookie things. Lots of learning and growing going on and still to come. For a lot of players, the offseason between their first and second seasons yields a lot of growth - just look at Harley. At some point, you've got to figure he'll get things worked out.

PDB healthy scratched Bourque a few weeks ago and he's been in a tear since. Getting a chance to sit upstairs with coaches and see the game from a different perspective can help players see aspects that aren't obvious on the ice. Hopefully that will be the case with Stankoven.

Re: Mohawk step, I never knew what it was called but Klingberg was the master of that move. When I think of him, I picture him opening up to move laterally across the blue line.

I miss when he was good, I really enjoyed watching him. :'(

Does picking up Karlsson give Harley & Miro some one to mimic and learn from on how to run an NHL power play?

Like how Wyatt is currently adopting aspects of Duchene's game and akin to the devils advocate I found myself playing justifying Hanzal's time in green, I think adding Karlsson could bring a major advancement for the team as a whole for years to come. Price has to be right, but with them actively playing Ryan Shea and no blue chip D prospects needing a deal in the time frame of Karlsson's deal, I could see Dallas putting together a package that lands Karlsson with reasonable retention.

Also, saw the CBJ and a couple other teams have entered the ring on the Jones trade rumor front, and I want no part of that bidding war.

We let Chicago catch the bag on an over bid last time around, definitely not running the risk of catching the cost of an over bid the second time round.

Had Stanky been given a role long enough to know what is expected? When you try to do it all, you never can. Is he still getting told and or expected to do top 6 things on the 4th line? Even if those expectations are just internal, you still need a coach to guide him through him and let it be known what you want and how to get him on that page.

From watching the last few games Ottengier has played including his 1 game in the 4 Nations his game is not where it as a couple of seasons ago. I think he is going to be hard pressed to steal a game that he will need to,do in the playoffs. I am not sure the problem but he is just not as crisp as he should be. Sometimes it’s his positioning and sometimes it looks like he doesn’t pick up the puck like he used too. Anyway I think the D in front of him will have to win the tough games not Ottengier.
