Thanks for the Dave Jackson comment - dude is totally useless. When he came on I told my wife “he’ll absolve the ref of any responsibility and tell us nothing informative” and after listening she agreed. How do guys who clearly aren’t very good at this have such jobs?
Chicago is an odd ball in this one, but I'm gonna use it to make a jumping off point for aquiring Jones.

The 3rd round pick aquired by Chicago has a pick value of 2.05, and could set a value parameter for 1 season of retention on Seth Jones @ 50%.
Jones has 6 seasons remaining on his deal, meaning we would need to generate a pick value of 12.3 or better too meet requirements.
The average bottom 1/3rd 1st has a pick value of 14.49 ('26 1st or later) and our current #27 slot carries a value of 13.11 (25' 1st). So one 1st now or in the future should get the ball rolling.
Or, The average 2nd carries a value of 5.71 & the average 3rd carries a value of 2.05, meaning two 2nds & a 3rd should meet specs. Spreading them out over the life of the Jones deal might actually be more enticing for both parties, as Chicago seems all but done with Jones to begin with.
Nils Juntrop for Rantanen doesn't set a high bar for prospect return, meaning Lundkvist or Kyrou would be complete overkill.
Let's go get the Nelson version "Brock" and Marcus Petterson. There's your Seguin replacement, and a blue line of Heiskanen, Harley, Lindell, Petterson, Bichsel, and Lyubushkin is salty.
Fair, but how often do players get deemed elite after the playoff run? Miro, Jake, Roope, Robo all have that “see I told you so” factor. Plus Benn Seguin and Duchene all have resumes that look great after a solid playoff spruce-up. The pieces are there but they are far from a sure thing.
Another way to look at it… can a team without top elite players, survive the playoff run? Carolina just addressed how now they they can. Will the Stars?

Only in hockey, government and nepotism driven companies do you get that level of shocking mediocrity.
With the trades starting early if Nil doesn’t get out there and make a deal all the players we want will begone. Please help the PP.

On second thought Lundkvist or Kyrou would meet the mark, if a similar 6 seasons multiplier was applied to prospect pedigree.
Juntrop (22' 6th) x 6= Lundkvist(18' 1st) or Kyrou(22' 2nd)
So by my dumb guy math, it's not overkill, but matching market value.

If Nill only wants to target UFA for the next TDL, then we can kiss goodbye in getting a Top 4 D. Even more getting a Top 4 right D.
It’s not Savard or Ceci that will help this team to generate offense from our D Corps.
Ok, let’s put Otter at close to elite :))).
