I like and agree more with your second "personal" list - especially Otter, who I think is too high at #3 on the submitted list. Sure, sometimes Otter plays like #1 but sometimes he plays like #10 - not consistent enough, lapses of concentration IMHO....I really don't know where Wyatt belongs other than top 7, but if he's on a strong line, he's definitely top 3...
Rantanen drops too low for me on your private list. I get that he needs a full season with the team to be appreciated, but he managed to be dangerous skating with 4th liners in the playoffs. I can't see him not in the top 3.
Robo is tough, part of me thinks that he's a reconfigured Pavelski type who isn't traditionally pretty but you want him. But then the other part can see how he could be left off of team USA for the Olympics. Sure that's a tough comparison, but that's the bar for him.
I'm getting vibes that Lyubushkin is the Mendoza line and everyone after that could just have "player" on the back of their sweater.
Benn at 11 still feels too high. Yes, he brings a lot of history with him, but also, he brings a lot of history with him. Hopefully this can be a swan song year for him, but I feel like he's going to get more and better ice time than he would on any other team and it will bite the club.
In trying to rate a body of work on the whole, I'm worried about Rantanen's shift to shift impact. It's easy to fall in love over a hat trick in the playoffs, but gauging what the sum is rather than the parts is harder, and I think in a Stars uniform - the four players above him have proven more in terms of Stars impact and chemistry. This is nitpicking, I know (Stars players have more value given their Stars history), but I'm just hedging my bets here.
I get it, some of it feels like sugar rush. There are guys who live on the stat sheet that don’t always make as much impact as those who don’t. If Rantanen and Miro can be the Finnish odd couple for this team, it could be great.
Well of course it's nice to have both but the fear of actually saying the truth, the heroics, that we've all witnessed from Tommy is disappointing 😞 😕 😔...
But David seems to know the real truth about who's better, more valuable to the Stars, lil miro or Tommy...but it's best not to say it yet, I suppose.
The Hockey Guy did similar, ranked lil miro higher than Tommy 🤔...it's probably the safe way to go.
Before kiprizov signs a $16m a yr real and spikes the market? The nhl just doesn’t have the cap space to do those deals, especially with mcdavid due a new contract after that.
You've lost your mind or else you're playing to the crowd?
LoL at Miro ranked #1
We've had two seasons where the team was without lil miro for looong stretches and it's not a drop-off for the most part and it's possible the team is better off without him.
But you'll scream "look at the end of last season, and the losing streak..."
That was a combination of a lot of factors. For starters, only having Tommy as a legit puckmover. Also, the coaching that led to dumbing down the dmen and becoming predictable. And Duchene didn't help with his constant message that the team shouldn't keep their foot on the gas, but rather coast into the playoffs and save energy, that was a real thing Duchene promoted.
You guys are still selling Tommy's impact short, by a mile. But, I get it. The miro propaganda was everywhere and it sure seeeemed correct. I mean, have you seen how beautifully miro skates, it's mesmerizing!!! Sigh...
You'd think the heroics that we have all witnessed from Tommy would make it totally obvious who's more valuable between Tommy and lil miro.
But nope...you guys are either slow to comprehend or worried about upsetting the lil miro Fan Club...probably both actually.
I'll repeat what I've said other places:
EVERY GM if told he could pick one or the other, lil miro or Tommy, would pick Tommy 100 %...not one exception.
I still think his offense is high level in proportion to roster rank. Yes, he sucks defensively and his discipline is a major problem, but I still think that's a credit to Benn given his age and plyer type.
Let’s say just for the sake of arguments that you put your top ten in a jar and throw them out 10 times maybe 2 or 3 times the ranking would come out right. I like your list better than Shapiro’s . Check the list again in December and see where each player stands then.
I know we disagree on a lot - although I don't know why you seem to speak as if I HATE Harley despite everything I've written about him - and that's cool. I know the feeling. Stars fans routinely disagree with me on a lot of things. But please respect this forum, and refrain from calling people "a little slow." You're always free to post here, and I really appreciate that you do. You're a vibrant dude with an honest opinion, and I respect that. But I intend to treat this place like a community, and unprompted disprespect (however lowkey) is a line I gotta draw. I hope we understand each other.

Geeeze…. It’s not an either or question. Having both makes the Stars better.
And resign Robo NOW, they won’t regret it!!!

Interesting lists.
My only real « criticism » is Benn. I easily see him around or after the 15th rank.
Our Captain is now a 4th liner that will play on the third line because of the lack of depth on the forwards corps.
I still think his offense is high level in proportion to roster rank. Yes, he sucks defensively and his discipline is a major problem, but I still think that's a credit to Benn given his age and plyer type.
I agree with you regarding marranitos

It's a bogus list if Tommy or Oetter aren't #1 or #2...the whole thing falls apart if either of them get injured, especially Tommy.
We've seen we can weather the loss of lil miro for long stretches.
But you guys are little slow and will have to witness how the team craters if Tommy were injured.

Thanks for that. It’s because of that type of comment that I left Defending Big D after numerous unanswered calls to the moderation team.
