Like you said, there is absolutely no room for him unless Nill makes another trade.

In other words, he represents an asset for something else before they will have to submit the official roster.

Trying to be optimistic, could this be a Bichsel to the right and have him line up with Esa as the 2nd line? That option lets them have all the size that they've typically craved on the 2nd line, at least a sniff of puck movement and maybe even some sneaky offense.

That would leave a log jam on the 3rd line, but the left side is between Capobianco and Kolyachonok and then the right fights for the 6&7 slots between Lyubushkin, Lundkvist & Petrovic. Maybe Nill could get a >0 return for one of those RHD even.

I still think Nill has to get rid of his 2nd mistake. 3 years to Lyubushkin was ridiculous. The stars need the cap money that his contract holds. You throw his 3.25 mil in with the 1.9 mil and you are looking at a quality D man.

Plenty of cap space to carry 8 D now.

If Koly can give a rest game here & their to Lyubuskin, I think thats just about the best way to finalize his development @ the NHL level.

Early season Lyubuskin looked like a low key gem of a signing, so why not try and coax that out into the playoffs?

Bit of internal competition, that also fills a mentor role of sorts. Not the worst idea. Sure beats lugging around Dumba all season, blocking our bottom 6 talent from stepping in to hone their craft at the NHL level.

Plenty of cap space to carry 9 D, if we want to get weird and experiment with playing some of our defenseman @ forward. (Harley & Miro are the obvious choices, but that wrister of Lindell's has been waisted most of his career.)

Capobianco, Kyrs, Taylor, Kyrou, and even Bertucci, not gonna burn anyone's wheels off atm, but would definitely be worth figuring out what's needs to be worked on for down the line throughout the season.
