I'm sure you're aware of this, but it feels like the Stars have too many players. Could we get a breakdown sometime of what the roster looks like with the additions and subtractions and where that leaves the team both in terms of depth and salary cap?

Great work as always!

Illya double dipped on the charts....

Lyubuskin!!!???!!!???

Just signed this dude and it's already a roller-coaster.

With Bichsel poised to grab a spot on the NHL roster at any given time next season, I'm actually beginning to come around on the signings. They may not force Miro to the left side, but they do allow for more opportunities for him to play from his natural side.

Dadanov, Dumba, Lyubuskin.

We have TDL fodder for the next three season.(back to reading)

Yes for Dadonov but hell no for the other two.

If they are playing good as well as the team, why trade them? If they are playing bad, who would give you meaningful assets for them? With that salary and term?

We are stuck with those two until the contracts expires.

Cap in & cap out.

They may not be an asset alone in a future TDL move, but they are moveable contracts that can help swap cap on a TDL rental.

Most high end rentals tend to require a cap in, cap out set up in order to aquire them. We managed to squeeze in Tanev under the cap, but that tapped us out on cap space and even cost us our #7 defenseman on waivers in the process.

Over the next 3 seasons we will have atleast one player on an expiring contract that can easily be traded for cap purposes when aquiring a TDL rental. Both players have a younger understudy in Lundkvist & Bichsel who can easily take their place in the event of their trade, and their cap structure blocks out nicely for future raises. Don't forget, Bichsel is just now starting the first season of his ELC.

We just traded Faksa for FC.

You really think we could have significant assets in trading Dumba in 2026 and the new pylon in 2027?

Bear in mind that, if we trade them, it would mean that they would not be that good.

If you would want a nice asset in return, Nill will have to retain (of find a partner who will) and give some significant assets in the package.

IMO, to think otherwise forgetting NHL trading history and/or thinking that dogs can fly.

What are the mechanics of a trade deadline rental and how often is the team sending a rental looking for an NHL ready player in return?

Monday was not a good day, IMO, but yesterday was a net positive. Looking at some of the contracts that are coming up in the next couple/few years (Johnston, Robertson, Oettinger, Stankoven), it sure would be nice to lock Harley in for a while. That would make for another good day.
